My writing draws on the amazing and sometimes intense adventures I’ve had with our two sons living in nine diverse countries: USA, Canada, Thailand, Vietnam, Romania, India, Kyrgyzstan, Laos and most recently, in North Korea with UNICEF.  I now live in Chiang Mai, Thailand, with my husband, two resident geckos and a chatty myna bird, and make frequent visits to the USA and Canada.

 When the Last Bird Sings

A Middle Grade ECO-adventure

The reality TV show, The Amazing Race, meets the Newberry honor winner, Hoot

Night vision goggles, a drone and a can of bear spray are not what you’d expect a twelve-year-old boy to pack for summer holidays with his granny. Not unless you’re Armando Garcia and you and your eccentric granny secretly plan to join the Amazing Animal Race, a grueling, continent-hopping competition to photograph seven endangered animals in seventy days.

Eight years earlier, Armando’s mother, a wildlife photographer, mysteriously disappeared on the same race–something his over-protective father never wants to talk about. But, when Armando accidentally discovers his mother’s tattered race journal, he convinces his granny to join him on the second Amazing Animal Race.  (For more details click here)
